A Vitamin for Confidence?

confidence

Yes! You read that right. Take a vitamin and you’ll have more confidence. At least that’s what my son believes today. I started him on a new vitamin this morning; one that’s supposed to help him with his focus. I’m hoping that as a result of taking it over time, that his speech will improve.

Last night I shared with my son all the many benefits he may be able to expect from that little vitamin. He listened intently and then grabbed the bottle and read it for himself. He was a little nervous at first and perhaps even questioned my sense a bit. But, without hesitation he gladly took his first one this morning.

For anyone who knows anything about vitamins, we know that they are not magical. They take time to work. They certainly don’t work after taking only one.

This is not true, however. Not according to my son. I asked him after school if he noticed any changes today after taking the vitamin. My sole purpose for asking was to simply reinforce the idea of him taking them. But to my surprise, he looked up with a smile and said, “I did. {notice a change}

“Really? What did you notice that was different?” I asked.

He replied, “I was able to focus better.”

Of course I played along with him. “That’s great! Just imagine then how much better it will be as you continue to take them everyday.”

He was so excited about the change that he apparently noticed that he asked, “Maybe I can take two?”

That’s not an option, but to see him so happy about that magical vitamin thrilled me. Then, when we sat down to do our daily reading I could hear the new confidence in his voice. He read better today than he has in a long time.

Although I highly doubt that this vitamin worked that fast in one day, it did work. Just knowing what that little pill might do for him, gave him the confidence that he’s been lacking.

Hurrah for vitamins that come with confidence! Who knew?

This goes to show that sometimes the smallest change can make the biggest impact.

  4. Oh that warmed my heart! I love what happens when we take away the restrictions we put on ourselves, and for your son, a little vitamin was all he needed to see how much more he could do! Can you send me some 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Isn’t it amazing how that works? I had no clue it would have that result, but thrilled that it did. He was just so happy. Then this morning, even though we were running late, he (by himself) remembered to take it. I’m one proud and happy momma. 🙂
