Yes, everyone has their silent times in life. Times when no one hears us, but ourselves.

Maybe we just need this in those times. I have one now.

As an abused teenager this was me. This post has brought back memories of that ‘roaring’ silence I lived in. Phew good to know I found my voice.
Great one liner post.

Thank you, Tric. I’m sorry that it stirs up bad memories for you. Roaring silence – yes, I too have had silent times like those. They’re awful and frightening. It is nice however, being able to look back knowing that we overcame it.

I agree. Silence can easily be ignored, but that’s the time when we should listen the most.

Powerful post if one understands it. And I do.

Good point. Perhaps some people are fortunate enough to never experience that. Like you though, I understand it too.

Wow… that just goes hand in hand with this one I’ve just finished reading… http://conceitedcrusade.com/2015/08/25/semicolon/

Wow…that was a very powerful and sad read. Thank you for sharing the link. One things for sure, I’ll never look at a semi-colon the same again.

Same here… I’ve read a lot of posts about it and why people tattoo them on their skin and I definitely look at them in a different way. And the semi-colon in general…

I don’t know the story behind this quote, but it sounds like a sad one. Shows how important communication really is.

I think any story that can be related to this quote is a sad one. The torture behind that type of silence is unrelenting. Communication IS very important – as long as the person has the strength to do it.

That’s the whole thing, isn’t it? I know, I visited that state of mind very briefly. I was lucky to get out of it.

Good to hear that you were able to escape it. It’s not a fun place to be, not even for a moment.

Sound attains meaning when punctuated by silence, as otherwise it is just cacophony…

Uproar, discord, noise – Yes, exactly. That is exactly the type of silence that this quote is speaking of.

I’m glad you understand this. It may be in a different way than I do but it hit home with me.(or is that for me?)

I’m glad I’m not the only one who struggles with proper grammar in sentences like that. (or is it ‘with’ sentences like that? Haha!) I do understand it, all too well. I’ve had that silence overtake me many more times than it should have.

The trick is to know when to ask for someone to listen/help.

Yes indeed, but that can sometimes take more strength than a person feels that they have.
