Last Sunday was my two year blogging anniversary. When I received the notification, many thoughts went through my mind. First, was how fast those two years have passed. It certainly doesn’t feel like it’s been that long.
Second, was the question of what I had written during that time. After two years, I’ve forgotten most of it. So I went back through a few of my old posts to refresh my memory.
It’s an odd thing, looking back and reading my own words. Some of them made me wonder who wrote them. It couldn’t have been me, because if it had been then why did I not listen to my own advice? Others made me cry, some out of sadness and others out of joy. Then there were a couple that were slightly embarrassing, causing me to wonder why I ever wrote them in the first place.
What primarily stood out to me though, were the many events and changes that have taken place during the past two years. So much has happened. People I loved dearly have passed away, my son has entered high school, people have gotten married, and lives have been forever changed, including my own.
I started this blog to figure out who I was, what I was doing and where I was going. Much to my surprise, that’s exactly what’s happened. I have learned a great deal about myself, which was evident as I read through several of my old posts.
I’ve gone from absolute uncertainty of where I would be tomorrow and who I would be. I’ve run while standing still. I’ve gone through winding detours only to end up where I began, with the only thing changed being me.
Even though in many ways I am still the same person I was two years ago, in other ways I am not. Although I believe that these changes could have come without the help of blogging, I give a lot of credit to the time spent writing here and the people I’ve met along the way.
There’s a big difference between simply writing our thoughts on a paper to be tossed in a drawer versus sharing them with others who may say exactly what we need to hear, even if sometimes it’s not what we want to hear.
So for my two year anniversary I want to say…
Thank you to everyone who has ever taken a moment to read, like, share, comment, advise, or debate. YOU are what makes this such a great community.
Congratulations and thank you for your contributions!

Yea. Congratulations for getting to two years. I think our blogs are better than diaries for displaying the passing of time. I have enjoyed many of your posts over the past two years. Here’s to the next two. Sláinte.

Thank you, Tric. I agree with you about diaries and the passing of time. This exhibits time better than anything. I too have enjoyed yours and look forward to reading many, many more.

Congratulations! It’s amazing what we learn about ourselves and our world by writing about our own world. Sharing it. And then participating in the written share of other’s worlds. 🙂

It certainly is. We can learn so much about and from ourselves, as well as from others. It’s a wonderful thing.

Way to go! I have read some of my earlier stuff. I started blogging in 2009. Silly, silly, silly. I had three followers. My mom, aunt, and daughter. Then I switched to WordPress, and I changed directions. One thing I have learned is that I have held myself more accountable after I publish something. I may not be completely successful, but it does inspire me to try a little harder. I agree with out, the community is what makes it all worth it.

That is true about holding ourselves more accountable. I’ve noticed the same, although I do tend to forget from time to time. You’ve been blogging for a long time. That’s very neat.

I’ve probably said a lot of things over and over. I’ve archived quite a bit of it. One day…maybe my great-great grandchild will read about their crazy relative. 🙂

A great milestone. Sometimes I wonder how many people start blogs and make it for a few weeks, a few months, or even a year and then stop. Two years. Nice.

Given what I’ve seen on WP there seems to be quite a few who do that. I wonder what causes them to stop. It’s been a great two years. Thanks, Doobster.

Happy anniversary! Funny how time flies and then doesn’t, and tracking where we came from based on our words.

Our words are certainly a reflection of how far we’ve come, and how far we’ve yet to go. Thank you!
