Bed – I Miss You

bed

Dear Bed,

Why do you not allow me to sleep on you anymore? I rest my head on your pillow and you transform it into a rock. You press wrinkled sheets into my side and your edges dig into my legs.

No matter how much I pull, toss and turn, you always find a way to make me uncomfortable.

Why bed, do you despise me so? I finally drift to sleep and you awaken me soon after. You weren’t always this way.

I remember the good ol’ days, when I’d curl up on top of you, and you’d hold me gently in your softness. For hours, we would lay there resting in the darkness together. It was delightful and oh so satisfying.

Now you’ve turned on me. You don’t care anymore. Every night you rouse me from my sleep.

I rise for a while, hoping that the separation between us will cause you to be more accommodating upon my return. Much to my dismay, when I crawl back on top of you, you still show no concern.

What have I done to cause you to treat me this way? Please tell me, so that we can rectify the problem. Let us renew our relationship. It’s not too late. We can still fix this.

Bed, please let us be friends again. I miss you.

Sincerely,

Sleepy Me

My bed is very kind to me, but my children dont want my bed and I to be together so I dont spend much time with it anymore. 😦 😉

Perhaps it’s time for you and your bed to part ways. Maybe you can find a new bed, one who will comfort you and lull you to sleep in its soft, memory foam ways.

Our beds must be related because mine does the same thing. I’ve even subjected it to physical beatings by kicking my feet this way and that and thrashing my covers but it doesn’t seem to help. I used to wake to a nice, neat bed, now I’m lucky if the sheets aren’t ripped off the bed from tossing and turning. I feel your pain 🙂

*sigh* an ongoing issue for me for so long. Three different beds. The Sleep Number, The Tempurpedic, and a regular old bed. The Tempurpedic isn’t all that comfy, and both my husband and I would wake up with hip and back pain as well as our arms going to sleep even if I couldn’t sleep. The sleep number became a burden because something eventually doesn’t work and even during the night one has to refill it. The regular bed is ok. I’ve gotten up to 6 hours a night, but that is of course slightly medicated sleep. So….lately, it’s been the fight of the pillow. I can’t tell you how many pillows we have in our house right now.

Eh, what is wrong with all these beds? I’m convinced that they are turning against us all. 🙂 It’s bad when even the high-rated beds are not good to sleep on. Maybe I’ll just stick to my regular bed. It seems to work when it wants to. Six hours of sleep sounds nice right about now, but I’m sure you’d love a good 8-10. Pillows – that’s a whole other story. Some of those things are just terrible. I think they develop a mind of their own over time.

One thing that I wasn’t aware of until I married Hubby was there seems to be a fair amount of people who think that a soft bed where you can snuggle down is the best. When their doctors tell them their problem is that they need a firmer mattress, they dutifully go to the store and get one that is firmer but still on the soft side; or they’ll go all out and get one that the store clerk says is medium in firmness. And the new mattress works — for a while, but then the same problems with sleeping come up.

I grew up with the firmest mattress there was. The only times I didn’t sleep well were when something like illness or being super upset would happen. Nightmares? I didn’t know what they were.

Nowadays, I prefer the firmest mattress with plywood underneath. Unfortunately, I don’t have that plywood so my sleep suffers a little. Hubby thinks I’m crazy. He wants that soft bed despite the fact that he has serious back problems. Go figure. :/

That is very good to know. It does makes sense how a soft bed would cause physical problems. Our bodies need support, not to just hang and bend in every direction, especially for so many hours. Mine is medium/firm. It doesn’t feel like plywood, but it’s not too terribly cushioned either. Well, hardly at all actually. It is comfortable when it wants to be. You never had nightmares? Wow, that would have been great while growing up. I always had them.

For you and your husband, too bad that beds don’t come with options like pizzas do – half plywood and half soft.
