Stop

stopDo you ever take the time to stop? To stop what you’re doing and look around you? It is so easy to get caught up in the rush of life. We’re all in such a hurry, but to go where? Where are we trying to get to so quickly? We need to slow down.

Better yet, we need to stop.

Stop. Look around you. There is a world beyond your own. A world full of beauty and wonder. Smell the roses. Set your eyes on the trees, for they have conquered storm after storm to provide you with shade. Feel the breeze in your hair and the rain on your face. Close your eyes and feel the sun’s warmth as it envelopes you.

Stop. Be thankful. No matter how bad life may seem at times, there is always something to be thankful for. Just waking up and seeing another day, is reason enough to be happy. Do you have a job, kids, a caring spouse, food to eat, or a roof over your head? If you have any of those, be thankful.

Stop. Love. Love your life and appreciate the opportunity to live it. Love the people you share it with. Cherish others and cherish their love for you.

Stop. Appreciate. Appreciate how your kids have grown and flourished. Appreciate them for the people they have become and are becoming. Appreciate your friendships, your spouse and your family.

Stop. Don’t waste your life on petty things. Make sure your priorities are in the right order.

Stop. Understand that life is short. Tomorrow is not promised. We only have the here and now. So make the now, count.

Take the time to stop each day, even if for only a moment.

Stop.

  1. It is very important to see the maybe small, but great things in our daily life. If people don’t stop sometimes, they can get to much stress and then the body and mind force them to take a break, sometimes for years or lifetime, if they forget to listen to the warnings.
Please stop sometimes and enjoy your life, while you can.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful post, it is so important 🙂

Thank you! 🙂 I got this as I was on the computer this morning. Something hit me (not physically) and I stopped everything. Then looked up and saw, really took a look at, all the little things around me that I am so thankful for, but so often take for granted.

Funny, I just spent the last few minutes stopping and feeling grateful. It’s easier for me when I receive good news after a long spell of bad. BUT, I need to make a habit of “stopping” regardless of what is going on in my life. Thanks for the reminder! Cate
