A Closer Look

Tree1

Upon first glance, what do you see? A beautiful tree adorned with a coat of soft green moss. Take a closer look. Peeking out from the edge is the tree bark, bare and vulnerable. Just as in life, there is always more to see. Take a closer look at the world around you, at others, at yourself. What is hiding on the other side? Finding out, may be worth the closer look.

“What you see and what you hear depends a great deal on where you are standing.” CS Lewis

  1. I was just talking to someone about what we see is usually colored by our experiences and not what is actually happening! Beautiful post!

One of those branches almost looked like a sculpture of a monkey.

I loved the quote and borrowed it.

It does, doesn’t it? This was taken in Washington. I should post a picture of the “bubble tree” that was near this one.

I’m glad you liked it and happy that you could use it.

It looks like one of the trees in my front yard. It’s been so wet this winter that the moss has gone ballistic. Although I do like people and like finding things out about them, with a few, I wish I hadn’t looked so close.

That was a photo from last week’s trip to Washington state. I bet it’s beautiful where you are.Unfortunately it’s very dry her right now. That’s a good point. Sometimes it’s better to know less.
